The programme’s symposia cover many different aspects on antimicrobials and sessions include “Drug Discovery and Therapeutic Options”, “The Environment as a Source of AMR”, “Rise of the Superbugs”, “The Immunocompromised Host”, “Linking Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) and Laboratory Diagnostics: The Role of the Laboratory in AMS”, and “The Future of the Diagnostic Microbiology Laboratory”. In addition, we have two pharmacy symposia on Saturday afternoon titled “AMS” and “Drugs and Bugs”. Three literature review sessions will also be presented, including “The Year in Clinical Microbiology” (Sally Roberts, New Zealand), “The Year in AMS” (Kirsty Buising, Victoria), and “The Year in AMR and Therapy” (Trent Yarwood, Queensland). Six proffered papers and two poster sessions are also planned for the meeting.
