Grant Awarded to University Collaboration with SpeeDx
The Australian Research Council (ARC) awarded almost $5 million to a collaboration with SpeeDx and over 20 other organisations, for the formation of an Industrial Transformation Research Hub to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance. The funds will be supplemented with an additional $3.8 million from SpeeDx and other partner organisations and represents a world-first partnership between industry, researchers, and stakeholders to address the critical challenge of rising antibiotic resistance rates.
Professor Guy, an epidemiologist from the Kirby Institute and UNSW Medicine, is leading the Hub and explains plans to develop new molecular diagnostic technologies and improve the processes for identifying potential new antibiotics.
