SpeeDx’s Alison Todd frontline fighter in the war on superbugs

Alison Todd co-founded SpeeDx with Elisa Mokany in 2008. The company manufactures and sells tests for detecting infectious pathogens and identifying antibiotic resistance.

What inspired you to go into your field?

I drifted into science because it was a discipline that came easily to me. It was not until I did a vacation internship that I discovered molecular biology; but from then on, I was totally hooked.

Although the field was relatively nascent, I quickly envisaged how understanding the genome could revolutionise medical practice.
